FAQ

Frequently asked.

Is the demo free?
Yes — completely free, with no account, launcher, ads, or in-app purchases. Download it, play it, keep it.
Which platforms can I play on?
Windows, macOS and Linux today, as native desktop builds. A touch, landscape mobile build for iOS and Android is in development. A Steam Early Access release will follow.
Where is my save stored, and is it safe?
Your save lives locally on your own machine (in the app's user-data folder for your OS) — never on a server. The game writes a backup slot and quarantines a corrupt file rather than overwriting it, so a single bad save won't cost you progress. The game makes no network calls.
Will my demo progress carry over to the full game?
That's the aim, but during active development the save format can change between versions. We'll be clear in the changelog whenever a save won't carry forward. For now, treat the demo as a taste of the loop rather than the start of your one true playthrough.
Does the game collect any data or need the internet?
No. There's no telemetry, no analytics, no accounts, and no online requirement — the simulation runs entirely on your device, even offline. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
The alchemy is "real" — is it safe to try at home?
No. Salmethic simulates the physics faithfully, but it is deliberately not a how-to guide: dangerous procedural detail — which reagents, how much, how to handle them — is stylised, never instructed. Please don't treat anything in the game as instructions to attempt real chemistry.
Why occult alchemy? Do I have to be "into" that?
Not at all. On the surface it's a complete, cosy alchemy sim you can finish and enjoy without ever thinking about the deeper layer. The occult tradition is depicted authentically for those who recognise it, but it's a reward for attention, never a requirement — there's no sermon and no quiz.
When is Early Access, and is there a Steam page?
The Steam page (and wishlisting) opens after a polish-and-feedback pass on the demo. See the roadmap for the full plan — it's deliberately honest about timing.
How can I support the project?
Right now: play the demo, tell a friend, and send feedback. Soon: wishlist on Steam, and back the full Arc 1 on Kickstarter. The most valuable thing you can give a small project is a wishlist and a word of mouth.
